Katalin Prentice

Katalin Prentice is a young Hungarian soprano. She trained as a classical singer at the Béla Bartók Conservatoire in Békéscsaba, Hungary. Whilst studying at the University of Dentistry (Debrecen Hungary) Katalin had regular classical singing lessons with Professor Dr Éva Mohos Nagy at the University of Music, and participated in numerous productions at the University of Music and many events around the country. In 2008 she won first prize in the International Song Festival’s Classical singing category in Oradea, Romania. After graduating as a dentist she relocated to London in 2012, continuing her singing studies with Nan Christie. In 2015 the marriage to her English husband brought Katalin to the lovely Norfolk countryside. Here she has sung the roles of Frasquita (Carmen) and Pamina (Magic Flute) for the North Norfolk Chamber Opera, while giving concert recitals in Suffolk. In 2017 Katalin completed the one-year opera course at the Associated Studios Performing Arts Academy in London, gaining a diploma in opera singing. At the Associated Studios she also performed at several masterclasses under outstanding coaches, conductors and directors, including principal Leontine Hass, William Relton, Christopher Cowell, Jeremy Silver, David Edwards, Robert Fried and Mary Hill. In 2019 she completed her Trinity College ATCL Performers diploma with distinction with the help and support of her singing teacher Vetta Wise. In 2020 and 2021 she participated in two international competitions and had the opportunity to compete with some of the world’s best young opera singers and artists. She was awarded an honourable mention from the Odin International Music Competition and she was extremely proud of her achievement in winning the best prize, the Grand Prix, of the ALPIN TRIGLAV 2021 International Music, Dance and Fine Art Competition. As a result of winning the competition in July 2022 she was invited to perform at the Prize Winner’s Gala concert in one of Europe’s most prestigious concert halls, the Crystal Hall in Rogaška Slatina (Slovenia) representing the United Kingdom.
